Women with late menarche, early menopause, and first full-term pregnancy by age 18 years have a significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer. The average American woman has about a one in nine lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. Men also get breast cancer, but 150 times more common in women. Voluntary interruption of pregnancy does not increase risk. Estrogen replacement therapy may slightly increase the risk. Women who received therapeutic radiation before age 30 years are at increased risk. Breast cancer risk is increased when a sister and mother also had the disease.

Breast Cancer can be prevented by minimising the modifiable risk factors. The average age at menarche can be increased through a reduction in childhood obesity and increase in physical activity. Also reduced the risk by low fat diet. Frequently self-examination of both breasts should be done to early detection of any lump. Early detection and treatment are a key role in the management of Breast Cancer.

Early detection and treatment are necessary to prevent from progression in advanced stage. As the disease progress to advanced stage, 5-year survival rate is reduced. Breast cancer also occurs in man but lesser than women.
